IMPORTANT: AfriLearn provides general education, not professional advice. Please read this Disclaimer together with the Terms of Use, particularly the provisions concerning third-party tools, user responsibility and limitation of liability.

1. Supplier and scope

AfriLearn is a trading name of NRS TECH VENTURES (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/588319/07, a private company incorporated in the Republic of South Africa ("AfriLearn", "we", "us" or "our"). Our physical address and address for service of legal documents is Unit 3, Cedar Park, 24 Cedar Street, Bryanston, Johannesburg, 2191. This Disclaimer applies to the website, free and paid course material, assessments, prompts, examples, downloads, certificate-verification service, communications and any related AfriLearn service. It does not displace any right or remedy that applicable law does not permit us to exclude or limit.

2. Education, never advice

All AfriLearn material is supplied for general educational and AI-literacy purposes. It is not legal, financial, investment, tax, medical, psychological, academic or other professional advice; it is not tailored to any user's circumstances; and it does not create an attorney-client, adviser-client, doctor-patient, fiduciary or other professional relationship. Material about law, ethics, privacy, intellectual property, study and workplace practice explains general concepts and is no substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified professional who knows the relevant facts and jurisdiction.

The course is written primarily from a South African perspective unless stated otherwise. Law, institutional policy, professional rules and accepted practice may differ across countries and organisations. Templates, examples, scenarios, checklists and prompts are teaching illustrations only and are not prepared, verified or approved for deployment in a real matter without independent review and adaptation.

3. Accuracy, completeness and currency

Artificial intelligence, software products, prices, model capabilities, institutional policies and law change quickly. We take reasonable care in preparing and reviewing the material and state update dates where appropriate, but we do not warrant that every statement is complete, error-free or current when a learner later accesses it. References to particular products, laws or policies describe the position understood at the relevant update date and should be verified against current primary or authoritative sources before reliance.

Where content was produced with assistance from an AI tool, it was reviewed before publication. That review does not amount to a guarantee of infallibility. Suspected errors may be reported to info@afrilearnai.co.za; we will investigate and, where warranted, correct them within a reasonable period.

4. Third-party AI tools and services

The course may identify or demonstrate third-party AI tools, websites, applications, payment services or other products. They are independently operated and governed by their own terms, privacy notices, eligibility rules, charges and technical requirements. A reference, demonstration or link does not constitute endorsement, partnership, agency, warranty or a representation that the product remains available, suitable, lawful or secure for a particular purpose.

Third-party AI outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, outdated or fabricated. You remain responsible for deciding whether to use a tool, checking its age restriction and terms, protecting confidential and personal information, assessing its output and obtaining any permission required by law, an institution, employer or professional body. Do not submit another person's personal information, confidential material, privileged material, protected intellectual property or sensitive information unless you are lawfully authorised to do so and the tool is suitable for that processing.

AfriLearn does not require a learner to purchase a third-party AI tool. Where a learner is under 18, the competent person who authorised the AfriLearn account must separately assess whether the third-party service permits and is appropriate for the learner's use. AfriLearn's parental-consent process does not override a third party's age or consent requirements.

5. Academic integrity and responsible use

AfriLearn does not authorise conduct prohibited by an educational institution, employer, professional body or applicable law. You must determine whether and how AI tools may be used in your own setting, disclose their use when required, verify work submitted in your name and comply with applicable assessment, authorship, confidentiality, data-protection and intellectual-property rules. AfriLearn is not liable for disciplinary, academic, employment or professional consequences arising from a user's breach or misunderstanding of those external rules.

6. Certificates and accreditation

An AfriLearn certificate records completion of the specified private short course and satisfaction of its stated assessment requirements. It is not an academic qualification, professional licence, guarantee of competence or credit towards a qualification. It is not recorded on the National Qualifications Framework and does not constitute statutory accreditation or continuing professional development unless a particular course page expressly and accurately states otherwise.

AfriLearn does not represent itself as a university, private higher education institution, private college or accredited skills development provider. It is not accredited or endorsed by the Department of Higher Education and Training, the Council on Higher Education, Umalusi, the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations or any university, regulator or professional body. The course is offered as a non-credit-bearing educational product and not as a registered qualification or part-qualification.

Payment does not purchase a certificate. A certificate is issued only after the learner has completed the prescribed course requirements. Completion does not guarantee employment, admission, promotion, academic credit, a mark, commercial success or any other outcome. Issue, verification, correction and revocation are governed by the Terms of Use and Privacy Notice.

7. Independence, authorship and third-party rights

AfriLearn is independently operated by NRS TECH VENTURES (Pty) Ltd. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any university, educational institution, professional body, regulator or AI vendor unless expressly stated in writing. Nothing in the course should be attributed to the University of the Witwatersrand or any other institution with which an author, contributor or director may be associated.

Third-party names, trade marks, logos, screenshots and interfaces are used only where appropriate to identify, explain, review or teach about the relevant products. They remain the property of their respective owners, and their inclusion implies no endorsement in either direction.

8. External links and downloads

External sites and downloads are outside our control and may change, become unavailable or contain errors, security risks or material unsuitable for a particular user. You should assess links and files before accessing or using them and maintain reasonable device, browser, account and data-security measures. Subject to applicable law, we are not responsible for third-party content, conduct, availability, security or data practices.

9. Your decisions, devices, data and outcomes

You are responsible for how you interpret and apply the course, for the accuracy and lawfulness of material you submit, for maintaining access to your email account, and for protecting your devices and locally stored progress. Clearing browser data, changing devices or disabling required browser functions may erase progress stored only on the device. You should retain independent copies of material that you need to preserve.

No statement in the course is a promise that a particular tool, method, prompt or learning outcome will be suitable for every person or purpose. Results depend on factors beyond our control, including the learner's conduct, third-party systems, connectivity, institutional rules and changes in technology.

10. Availability and changes

We use reasonable efforts to keep the website, course and certificate-verification service available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free or permanently available operation. Maintenance, security incidents, power or network failures, hosting changes, third-party failures and events beyond reasonable control may cause interruption. We may correct, update or replace course material and functionality, subject to the protections for paid entitlements in the Terms of Use.

11. Important limitation of liability

THIS CLAUSE LIMITS THE TYPES AND AMOUNT OF LOSS FOR WHICH THE COMPANY MAY BE LIABLE. IT MUST BE READ WITH CLAUSES 17 AND 18 OF THE TERMS OF USE. NOTHING IN IT EXCLUDES LIABILITY OR CONSUMER RIGHTS THAT SOUTH AFRICAN LAW DOES NOT PERMIT TO BE EXCLUDED.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AfriLearn is not liable for loss caused by reliance on educational material as professional advice; use of or reliance on a third-party tool or output; a learner's breach of law or external institutional rules; loss of locally stored browser data; unauthorised access resulting from compromise of the learner's email account or device; or an outcome that the course did not expressly guarantee.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, liability for indirect, special or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, anticipated saving, goodwill or data is excluded where that loss was not a direct and reasonably foreseeable result of our breach. Any remaining liability is subject to the exclusions, cap, statutory savings and allocation of responsibility in the Terms of Use.

These limitations do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. They do not waive rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 or other applicable law.

12. Changes and contact

We may amend this Disclaimer in accordance with the amendment clause in the Terms of Use. Material changes affecting an existing paid entitlement will not apply retrospectively without the process and remedies stated there.
